Pass It Forward
As this list evolves, the different kinds of trail angels and the range of volunteer or discounted commercial services they offer will be identified. Please tread lightly. Trail Angels use their own limited resources providing services to the hikers. Calling them up, emailing them or sending them stuff not strictly related to the hike or too far in advance of your need for their services during your hike just burns up resources and burns out trail angels. Also, if you cannot do something for the trail angel who does something for you, pass your good fortune forward by doing something for other hikers or for the trail itself.

Bruce Wagner and Carol Wagner- Lake Arrowhead support
Hello, 2006 PCT hikers. Greetings from Bruce and Carol Wagner in Lake Arrowhead, CA. What do you need? Mailing services? Hot bath? Laundry? Lunch? Local transportation? Perhaps we can assist. We're a bit familiar with your situation when you get this far … Carol's brother, Carl, did the Trail in 1977. I have a bit of mountaineering experience, too; Muir Trail in 1957, Mt. Rainier in '72, and several of California's 14K peaks. We expect to be home in the Lake Arrowhead area during much of the "season" for PCT hikers trekking through our area.
As you may have noticed from your maps, we are a one-day (tough) or two-day (easy) hike west of Big Bear, in the San Bernardino National Forest. We can provide good directions (and possibly a lift) to our place or other desired local destinations. The Lake Arrowhead area has many convenient services: supermarkets, pharmacies, post office, fast food or fine-dining restaurants, hardware stores, etc. Find the west end of Hook Creek Road on your maps (Cedar Glen). Our place is about half way around, above the northwest corner of the lake.
So, if you'd like to avail yourself of some local hospitality, call us from Idyllwild or Big Bear and let us know when you'll be in our area and inquire about what we can offer. That will largely depend upon whether we are home and the volume of requests received. Please do not assume that leaving a voicemail will assure you of a shower or laundry facilities! We've hosted a few PCT hikers over the years. They've been enjoyable visits and we hope that some of you might be able to drop in.

Jerry Dinsmore and Andrea Dinsmore
The Dinsmore's River Haven is located in Skykomish, Washington, just 15 miles west of Stevens Pass. Jerry and Andrea are trail angels.
The Dinsmore's have been opening their home to PCT hikers since 2003. They live 15 miles west of Steven's Pass summit on the Tye River and Hwy 2. Hitch into Skykomish and the Dinsmore's will pick you up. If it is dark when you hit the trail head call from the phone booth on the north side of hwy 2 and we will come and get you.
If you would call us from Snoqualmie Pass and let us know you are headed our way that would help us on our end. Also if you need something special when you hit Skykomish you could tell us at this time. 74 miles between Snoqualmie and Steven's. About 3 days out.
The Dinsmores offer camping, laundry, showers, hot tub (until damage occurs), big resupply boxes, mail pick up, high speed internet, phone (with phone card), mini kitchen, fire pit, BBQ, rides back to hill and inside sleeping. A lot of the time there's a big hot pot of soup or chili or spaghetti or beans and franks for the hikers to fill up on. Rides to bus line and big grocery store available. Donations for gas outside of Skykomish accepted. Please remember this is the Dinsmore's HOME. We do what we can to make you dry, warm, clean and hopefully resupplied. Please respect your surroundings. If there is something you feel we can add or change to benifit the hiker's stay please let us know. The usual donation is $20 per hiker per night.
There are also a couple of motels in town. Cascadia Inn ($25 per hiker up to 4 bunk room) to $65 a night for a private room. Sky River Inn ($85-$145 per hiker). The only down side to staying in town is no laundry, no internet, no hot tub, no resupply boxes,no mail pick up and no rides to the hill or grocery store. The up side, there is a cafe in town and 2 bars. Internet is at the library (opens at 2pm)
