bpergps2.jpgThis was the unit that recorded the Backpacker Track The most complete GPS data for the PCT, this track was collected by JackHaskel in 2006. [WWW]Backpacker Magazine contracted Jack for their [WWW]Map Project based out of Boulder, Colorado. The track log and waypoints can be downloaded from [WWW]http://www.trimbleoutdoors.com/ViewTrip.aspx?tripId=29219. It can be loaded into [WWW]Google Earth or installed onto a GPS.

The Backpacker Magazine data includes both a track log and waypoints. The track log was collected as crumbs at a detail of approximately every forty feet. The waypoints were collected at points of interest, so deemed by Jack. They're mostly roads, water sources, campsites, trail junctions and viewpoints. While extensive, the waypoints are not complete.
